They played this commercial last summer after an outbreak of crytosporidium in the pools made a bunch of people sick here in Utah. I think it's the funniest thing. With pool season now upon us, I just thought I would share....enjoy!

Another Ruby

Having a July Birthday has always meant a lot to me. My Grandma Tanner's birthday is July 9th and my parents 'planned' my due date, so that my Mom could have a Ruby in her Mother's ring. I absolutely love Rubies, I think they are such a beautiful gem. Dave even designed my wedding ring to have 4 rubies on the side next to the diamond...he did good.
I had a Doctor's appointment today and we scheduled my c-section for July 27th. I'm excited about sharing my birth month with our new little girl. Maggie and Dave share March, so we have 2 exciting months in our family. So far my Mother's ring is an Aquamarine and a Ruby...we'll see what other colors we might add in the future.

Memorial Day Campout

We had a great Memorial Day weekend with Dave's family. Joan and Weldon invite us to 'camp' in their back yard about 3-4 times throughout the summer. These camp outs are a lot of fun and I look forward to each one of them. This weekend was supposed to kick off the camping season, but with the downpour on Sunday it was decided that our camp out was going to be inside this time. Despite the rain and change of plans we had a wonderful time. There was a lot of yummy food, and it was fun to watch Maggie play with her cousins.
The camp outs usually entails kiddie pools and sprinklers in the yard, but with it being a little chilly on Monday we opted for some indoor water fun. Joan and Weldon took us all to the Bountiful Rec Center, Maggie was in heaven, she loves to play in the water.

Inspiration from 'A Baby Story'

Being pregnant makes me stress about everything. I know that it's just my hormones, and I try to stop myself from thinking, but as I'm lying in bed awake due to pregnancy induce insomnia, it's hard to turn my brain off. My biggest worry these days is about how my little Maggie is going to deal with having a new baby come into our home in 2 months. I worry about how she is going to deal with me being in the hospital and having Dave or Grandma Betts put her to bed at night. I worry about how she is going to react when I am nursing a baby and am not able to respond to her immediately. I already feel guilty that I am somehow making her grow up too fast. At 16 months she will no longer be my 'baby' and I'm a little sad about it.
Lately, I've been obsessed with watching TLC's 'A Baby Story'. It's fun for me to watch how the different couples react to the changes that a baby brings. Sometimes, I think that people are crazy. It makes me laugh when I hear 'we have 2 dogs right now, I don't think that taking care of a baby can be that much harder'... oh just you wait. Then there are times when I can TOTALLY relate.
There was a couple in their 30s, who were having their second boy just 15 months after the birth of their first baby boy, Nico. She had to have a c-section with her 1st because he was breech and so the Dr. suggested another c-section because it hadn't been that long since the last one. As she lay in her hospital bed getting prepped for surgery, she was crying. She told her husband that she was feeling guilty about making their oldest baby grow up too fast, everything she said was exactly how I have been feeling about Maggie and our new baby. Her husband took her hand and said, 'You need to think of it as giving Nico the best present in the world. We are giving him a brother. They will be playmates, and a support for each other for the rest of their lives.'
I was really touched by that. I know Maggie's world is going to change, and it may be hard on her at first, but I know the change will be for the better. We are giving her a sister, what an amazing gift. I'm not sure what I would do without my sisters, they are my best friends. Hopefully, Maggie and the new one will have that too. **I know it may take a few years**

Recent Pictures

I have a few new pictures that I thought I would post. Maggie is growing up so fast. She is saying about 10 words and learning signs like crazy. She's really at a fun age and I'm enjoying watching her learn and develop.

Grandma and Grandpa Betts came to visit on Mother's Day. It was so much fun to have them here. We took Maggie for a walk up to the Botany Pond at BYU to see the baby ducks. She loves them, she's getting pretty good at saying 'duck'.

This picture cracks me up. She knows Dave is taking her picture, but she is too busy watching her movie to look at the camera, she'll just give a courtesy smile. She got her new Dora chair from the Heggie's and she loves it.

The Big Move

We are slowly, but surely, getting settled into our new place (unfortunately, it is leaning more to the slowly side). We only moved 4 blocks, but it was by far the hardest move I have ever endured. I can't believe how much you can accumulate in 2 years. It's unreal how much stuff you have to have when there is a child involved. Fortunately, I survived, and we have been in our new place for 2 weeks now. I REALLY like it here. There is easily twice as much room, there is no mold growing on the walls, no lead paint peeling off the walls just begging for Maggie to take a mouth full, and so much more storage space. Maggie can crawl around and explore without giving me a heart attack that she is going to be poisoned.

I will always have a special spot in my heart for our tiny, mold infested, lead paint filled, little basement apartment. It was our first home and there was a lot of love there. We brought our first little baby home to that apartment and it will always hold many special memories. Farewell old friend.

My Home and Native Land

It's been a crazy couple weeks. We left on April 14th to drive to Alberta to visit my family. Maggie had a bit of a hard time with the drive. She does not do well with falling asleep in the car seat. I felt really bad for the poor little thing, there were many tears shed (only a few were mine). We got to visit most of my family in Alberta before heading 7 hours east to Saskatchewan to see my parents.
Only 5 months left until my Dad is released as the Temple President. Dave and I figured it would be the last chance to visit them there. The temple is beautiful and Dave and I got a chance to go to a session (thanks Ryan and RoxAnn for babysitting).
The trip was a lot of fun, so much driving, but it was worth it. I'm nervous about doing the trip with 2 kids next time....yikes.
