This past weekend we went on a camping trip with Dave's family. It was a cold night, but we still had a good time. Maggie loves pine cones and entertained herself for quite some time choosing which pine cone she would hold (and taste) next. All the kids had a great time exploring and climbing on the giant rocks around the campsite. It was a really pretty area and even though the camp ground was full, we had a lot of space to ourselves.
Dave and I were thinking of spending 2 nights up there, but Friday night was so cold and none of us got much sleep, so we decided to pack up Saturday evening. I was exhausted and needed my own bed. Maggie is also teething, so that added to the miserable night. Even with the rough night, we had fun trip. Maggie was in heaven going on walks with Grandma, and just being able to be outdoors.
Our big splurge for the summer is our new 8 man Coleman tent. I got it for $150 at Walmart and I think we are going to be happy with it. Our little 4 man just wouldn't fit our air mattress, play pen and all our other stuff. My favorite thing about our new tent, besides all the room, is that the door is on a hinge. It will stay closed with velcro so you don't have to zip it up everytime. This makes it really easy to get in and out, and it's easy to sneak out of with a sleeping baby.
Camping is definitly a different experience with a 1 year old. We will have another 1 year old next year. I was trying to figure out at what age it will get easier to take kids camping, my guess is around 4....we still got a few more years.
Time goes by soo fast she will be 4 before you know it!!!! Looks fun, and I love the tent. We had to get a 8 man tent too. Next will will be a 2 year old with a one year old...2 year olds are even better, so get ready!!! Have I told you your daughter is cute??? because she is!!
