Maggie is 2!!!

On March 25th, 2008 at 8:00 am, we met and fell in love with a beautiful little person.
Maggie Phyllis Betts came into this world and changed our lives forever.
How on earth has 2 years passed already?

Our little girl is 2 years old!

Maggie's birthday was so much fun. My parent were here visiting and we had a wonderful time. We took the girls to Thanksgiving Point and went to The Farm Country. They loved it. It was a little chilly, but sunny and we really enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Maggie and Grandpa watching the goats

Maggie and I with the chickens. She loved the chickens. She kept running back to say 'hi' to them

Chillin' with the goat.

Chloe enjoyed being outside and was so happy and good the entire day.

More Chickens

Me and Coco

Turkeys are really ugly. I don't think I have ever seen one this close before and seriously, they are ugly.

Maggie was a little shy at first about petting the animals, but she got more brave throughout the morning.

This was definitely a highlight. She was so excited to ride the horse.

Chloe was all over petting the bunny. Unfortunately for the bunny, she wasn't very gentle.

I love the look on her face.

They had a little 'town' with small buildings. Dave and Maggie are in the jail...I wish I had one of these at home, I could get a lot done in the day. (just kidding)

Maggie's turn with the bunnies

Grandma, Grandpa and Maggie at the bunny cages.

Farm Country is a really fun place. Not only are there animals, there is also an interactive area where the kids can learn about where food comes from. It was fun to watch Maggie plant her garden and harvest her crops.

Getting ready to pick the fruits from the tree.

Grandpa and Chloe hanging out

Planting her garden

Chloe is in Awe of the horse. She makes this face when she is overwhelmed with anything....it cracks me up.

Checking each other out

Getting so brave around the animals.

She was in heaven

They also gave us ice cream sandwiches at the end.

What could be better...

...than a messy sticky face?

We all really enjoyed our day at the farm. It was a great activity for Maggie's birthday, I would definitely recommend it. I think it only cost $3.50 for the adults and kids 2 and under are free.
We came home and put the girls and Grandpa down for a nap to get ready for the party in the evening.
awww....he was all tuckered out

Maggie was lucky enough to have both set of Grandparents come to her birthday party. We had Chili burgers and chips (Maggie's favorite) for dinner and had a great time playing and visiting.

The girls enjoyed playing with Maggie's new toys and her balloons.

THE CAKE INCIDENT!!!

This was Maggie's cake.

My parents bought the cake and I was excited to use my new cake decorating kit and personalize it. I know it's not the most beautiful cake in the world but I was happy with it.

Dave went into the kitchen to light the candles and bring out the cake.
I heard a gasp and a thud....I came running around the corner to find this.....

The cake had slid off the plastic tray.
I wasn't sure how to react at first....for the first second I thought I felt tears welling up, but then I just started laughing. Dave was standing back away from the cake, looking pale. Seeing him, made me laugh even harder. All of us started laughing so hard, it was hilarious. My Mom even ended up spitting water all over our kitchen floor, she was laughing so much.

We picked it up.....

...and ate it anyways.

This picture is a little sad....poor little girl with her messed up birthday cake.

It still tasted yummy. She enjoyed it.

Happy Birthday MagPie. We love you very, very much!!!

  1. Oh that is too funny!!! I'm laughing about the cake! What a classic moment. I took my kids to the Thankgiving point a couple of years ago and they Loved it too. They have it set up really good. Reagan even milked a cow there.

  2. i love the pic of my parents (and yours) wearing the birthday hats. good blackmail!!!
and as for the cake, maggie is 2, as long as it tastes yummy (probably means LOTS of sugar) does she care what form it comes in?
how'd she get so big looking? she's a FREAKING GIRL not a toddler. i hate when they make that jump. i mean it's cool, but the cute baby look is gone forever!

  7. OH my goodness!! I am laughing (and I had to show Leo he's laughing too) so hard at the cake incident. I'm glad you told me you felt tears because I know I would have too, but you were so good to laugh and still have a great rest of the party. I'm not surprised though b/c you have a great sense of humor. Anyways glad you made it to the petting farm, we've loved going there too!

BTW, you are so sweet to always offer to watch my kids...same back at you. I haven't had the chance to watch yours if you need me to. (Well, at least the offer is there for the next mo. before I have my baby. :) )
